The Phillis Wheatley Historical Society website has been created by the University of Massachusetts History Club. Our objective is to give honor and recognition to the first African American poet, Phillis Wheatley.
We provide historical facts and in-depth information of her life and legacy through a wide range of media such as illustrations of landmarks and historical events as well as statistical data to support evidence. We want to create a unique scholarly source and enhance the availability of information to promote excellence in learning.
The Phillis Wheatley Historical Society has collected and organized articles about the life of Phillis Wheatley and her contribution to American history and literature to be displayed in this cultural memorabilia. We celebrate the contribution of African Americans to American History and embrace and promote intercultural competence.
